USYD Young Vinnies Buddies Days - these days involve groups of volunteers hosting a fun day out for children from disadvantaged homes. It may involve taking them to the beach, for a picnic in the park, to the movies - anywhere they would not normally be able to visit regularly. Volunteers are invited to give a few hours of their time on their weekend to give a helping hand - and have some fun! Buddies Days are held about once a month, taking into consideration exam periods and holiday breaks. Night Patrol -there will never be a night on the Night Patrol when you will not learn things about those less fortunate and things about yourself. Volunteers spend a couple of hours in the evening out on the streets of Sydney providing a smile, chat and a cup of tea to the homeless and disadvantaged. The volunteer group visits several sites around the inner city in our ‘Vinnies Van.’ We participate in Night Patrol on a Wednesday night every four weeks. Fundraising activities - from sausages and onions on BBQs, to assisting with donations at Wiggles concerts, in 2008 the Young Vinnies hope to continue their fundraising activities for both the society and the Sydney Archdiocese. WYD08 - World Youth Day ’08 will once again provide a unique gathering of people from every corner of the globe – young people, old people, religious people, nonreligious people, singers, dancers, rappers and even the Pope. This event is sure to be one of the biggest that Sydney has ever seen. The USydYV, with the Sydney Young Vinnies conference, will be involved in many ‘Vinnies-organised’ activities during this great festival. How do I join?
