Catholic Society of St Peter

… building a Catholic culture on campus

Who are we?
The Catholic Society of St Peter is a group of students who meet regularly to build friendships, have fun, and encourage each other in faith and love. We welcome people from all backgrounds, religions and denominations who want to find out more about what the Catholic Church is all about. With World Youth Day being held in Sydney this year, we’re looking forward to a fantastic year of events and opportunities, all the while
appreciating more and more the universal nature of our faith.

“Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence."

1 Peter 3:15

What do we do?
The CSSP works in conjunction with the Catholic Chaplaincy to run events catering for the needs of all students. Hungry? Come along to our free weekly BBQs on Mondays. Got an idea or question buzzing round your brain? Bring it to your faith and reason group for discussion. Want to know what the Church really teaches? Find out at the weekly forums. Feel like having fun and meeting new people? We have regular social nights during the year. There is also daily Mass and Adoration at the University Chapel, as well as our legendary end of year ball and retreat.

How do I join?
We encourage everyone to join the CSSP - from first years to those who’ve been here too long to count, art students to engineers, as well as people of all denominations. Come along, meet new people, learn more about the Church, be encouraged in your faith - what more could you want? To find out more or to join, just call us on 9518 6415, or email your details to cssp@usydcc.org.

CSSP Wednesday Weekly Forums

Each Wednesday during semester, starting 1.10 pm sharp, the Catholic Society of St Peter will host public forums on the faith in lecture theatres around the University (venues to be announced). These forums will cover a variety of interesting and important topics and will be presented by popular and engaging speakers. Attendance at these traditional society events is a must! Look out for your weekly society email for details regarding speakers and venues.

BBQ's in 2008

BBQSince 2002, the Chaplaincy and CSSP have jointly hosted weekly barbeques on Mondays at 1.10 pm in the undercroft area of St. Michael’s Chapel of the Resurrection. In 2008 this tradition will continue, and an open invitation is extended to all students who may wish to attend.

Just think about it, the advantages are many: free food and drink, good conversation, updates on the latest happenings in Catholic life on campus … and no one has to clean up afterwards!

Hope to see you there!!
