Put out into the deep… become a Catechist and share our Faith!

The Sydney University Catechist team is made up of young people from diverse areas of study who are committed to their faith and who are willing to sacrifice 30 minutes each week to teach young children about the Catholic faith. This teaching takes place within the public school system.

No classroom experience is required! All you need is a willingness to grow, learn and serve founded on a love of the Faith. Become a Catechist and join a team that will help you build your skills, and use your talents in this “eminent form of the lay apostolate” (Lay Catholics in Schools: Witnesses to Faith, 1982). With great teaching resources provided, including the newly released program Christ Our Light and Life, and regular opportunities for formation offered in collaboration with the Confraternity for Christian Doctrine (CCD), the possibility of becoming a Catechist has never been more accessible or worthwhile. It’s great fun, so contact us today!

Become a catechist and change your life and the lives of the people around you. Catechism classes are held at following public schools:

  • Glebe (Mondays 2:30pm – 3:00 pm)
  • Ultimo (Thursdays 2:00pm – 2:30 pm) and
  • Forest Lodge (Fridays 11:30am - 12 noon and 12 noon – 12:30pm).

Other schools and times are available if the above time slots don’t suit you. Now, all you need to do is contact Rita on 9518 6415 or email chaplaincy@usydcc.org. In doing so you will join other young people who are making a difference in the lives of children and families through the hope offered in Christ and His Church.
