Dignity of Women Course: “Discovering the Feminine Genius”

The Catholic Chaplaincy of Sydney University will run a seven-week intensive course on The Dignity and Vocation of Women, rooted primarily in Pope John Paul II’s Apostolic Letter Mulieris Dignitatem. Presented by Sister Mary Madeline OP, the course will include reflection on and discussion of the truth of women’s dignity rooted in their creation in God’s image and their vocation to build a culture of love and life. The course is open to women and men interested in a fresh and faithful perspective on the feminine genius.

Annual Cardinal’s Cup

This is an annual indoor soccer competition that draws together University societies, colleges, seminaries and other Catholic groups from around the Archdiocese of Sydney. The Cup is the most hotly contested event in the CSSP calendar and is not to be missed. The current holders of the Cup are the Neo-Catechumenate Community. The date for this year’s event is Sunday 24th May 2009.

Mid Year Inter-University Retreat

This will be a wonderful opportunity to relax after the completion of your exams. Many students have commented on the depth and richness of the annual retreat: inspiring talks, silence, group prayer, Adoration, discussion sessions, Mass and the Sacraments. Enjoy beautiful scenery, make new friends and encounter Christ more deeply through the word of God in Scripture and the Church’s teachings. It will also be a wonderful time to meet and get to know many other Catholic students from the other universities in the Sydney Archdiocese.

Theology of the Body Course: ‘Sex: A Revolutionary View’

What is the Catholic Church’s view on SEX???
A 7 week intensive course on the Theology of the Body of Pope John Paul II, presented by Fr. Dominic Murphy OP.

The most revolutionary and comprehensive teaching about sex, from the original intention of God who created man and woman; through the reality of the various struggles; to the nature of true human love as the expression of God’s love; the expression of this love through the sacrament of marriage and celibacy; the ‘theology of the body’ of Pope John Paul II is THE key to the building of a new civilization of love and the establishment of a culture of life.

Max and Edith Days 2009

Max and Edith Days take their name from St Maximillian Kolbe and St Edith Stein. They are
days dedicated for the formation of young men and women. For the young men adventurous
excursions are organised enabling them to reflect on key questions relating to being men of
God in the world. Come and enjoy time away from Uni in natural settings, fraternal sharing,
sport, prayer, Mass and good food!

Young women are invited to explore the gift of their feminine genius through prayer,
reflection and discussion in mystery destinations. We often host international and local speakers
who are leading and hidden lights in their faithful witness to Christ in the world as women!

Bible Study on Campus

Bible Study on Campus: The Gospel of Saint John

Bible studies at the University of Sydney are open to all people of all religious backgrounds.
Grab a coffee and a friend and come along with your questions. We also offer a breakfast
Bible Study for those who would like to drop in before class.

In 2011 we will be studying the Gospel of Saint John. This magnificent text is known as
the “spiritual” Gospel and gives unique insights into the identity and mission of Christ.
Through our Bible studies we will come to know Christ better through delving deeper
into the mystery of Jesus and the Trinity.

When and where? Bible studies are held on campus at various venues and will
be offered daily during semester (starting week 2) at the following times:

Monday: 11am, 2pm;
Tuesday: 11am, 2pm
Wednesday: 11am, 3pm;
Thursday: 11am
Friday: 11am

If these times are not suitable with your timetable, please email us your preferred days
and times and we will try our best to accommodate that.
